Summer Basketball 2026
June 22 - July 19

Below you will find the information for incoming freshman and new/returning players (non-freshman). We are requesting $300 per player to cover the costs of coaches, leagues, and tournaments. This summer program is funded by the donations, so a shortage in funds will impact our ability to offer the camp. Please contact Coach Goins with any questions:  johngoins@iusd.org

In order to participate, you must register online and an athletic clearance process must be completed. The athletic clearance is submitted online and includes a physical exam conducted by a medical professional. All information regarding this can be found on the University High School Athletic Website

Freshman summer basketball is a vital part of the development of high school basketball players. During the summer, players will learn how high school basketball works through daily practices and a robust schedule of games against other high schools. Think of the summer as a mini-season.

Players will learn how to run the offensive and defensive schemes of University's basketball program along with development of their own skills to be effective in the more structured high school environment. The summer provides not only an introduction, but also experience with the coaches, serving as an extended tryout process, allowing us to identify and evaluate players.

Transportation must be arranged on your own; the school does not provide it during the summer. Practice uniforms are needed for practice and games. The are available for purchase on the first day of practice. Price will be confirmed when we order them, but I expect a set (reversible jersey and shorts) will be between $45-$65.

This summer program is focused upon the evaluation and development of players for the JV or Varsity level. Players who were not a part of the program during the season are welcome to join and will be placed with the appropriate skill level.

All players will need to have a University-issued practice uniform for practices and games. For games, it must be the new generation of practice uniform which says "Trojans" on it instead of "University".

The rosters for the two levels can fluctuate, with players being given opportunities at times to play at both the JV and Varsity levels. That will be handled on a game to game basis and communicated to the players directly.
